Making breakfast and other meals fun and healthy since over 135 years, Quaker Oats came together with Indiblogger (one of India’s largest blogging communities) to spread awareness about the deficiency of nutritious food available to most people in our country. Held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, Mumbai, Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna led the event and urged us to work towards a healthier India. He is working with PepsiCo. to help the company meet the demands of healthier foods. Having worked on Tropicana before, he has now shifted focus to Quaker Oats.
#TheQuakerBowl IndiBlogger Meet, Mumbai
The theme of a fun Sunday brunch had been set. After an engaging session of spreading awareness, the audience would be divided into groups and enter in to a Quaker Oats cook off. We were required to prepare a dish, with Quaker Oats as the principal ingredient (obviously) and present it beautifully. Teams would be judged on the basis of Taste and Presentation.
A session of brainstorming led to a really fun dish – A spin off on jalebi and rabdi. Essentially, we cooked up a really thick textured bowl of oats, mixed with jaggery, melted chocolate, chilli flakes and water. I tell you, the chilli flakes was a brilliant idea. Once cooked, this was sandwiched between a layer of 3 fresh jalebis and topped with a cherry. It was presented with macaroon sand which was an absolutely hit with the judge!
Not to blow our own trumpet, but ours was easily the most beautifully presented dish that morning 😀 We managed to win in both categories – Taste and Looks! Yay 😀
Unfortunately I do not have a photograph of the same but will be sure to upload one as soon as we can get a copy of the official photographs 🙂
All smiles after our win ! My lovely friends from A Perfect Fusion, Guiltless Foodies, Fat Foodies World and Eat Aloud.
If you are looking to lose weight, get fitter, basically just opting to choose a healthier lifestyle, Oats are definitely the option to turn to. Oats are extremely high in fibre and leave you feeling fuller for longer, thereby reducing unnecessary cravings. They also help in improving the health of your digestive system. Also great for those who consume a gluten-free diet. They help lower bad cholesterol, boost your immune system and control blood pressure. Not to mention they taste great too.
In fact try out one of my breakfast recipes – https://chaicakeandkitsch.com/2015/01/20/wake-up-and-smell-the-cinnamon/. This can also be eaten after a heavy workout.
What a fun Sunday it was. Of course not to forget, hospitality at the Marriott was exceptional as usual, so was lunch 🙂
Do let me have your thoughts if you try out my recipe. Live healthy !
