Loaded With Love

Address: Shop 2, Ground Floor, Near Ambedkar Statue, Dr. Ambedkar Road, Khar (W),
Telephone: 9821558085

Wow.. ok so my title’s kind of cheesy.. but when you have a Dessert Bistro owned by a young lady who never fails to greet her customers with a smile, you’re bound to feel loved 🙂 Found in the busy lanes of Khar, Loaded – The Dessert Bistro, is a definite go to on your list to satisfy your sweet tooth. The owner/chef Tripti Singh is extremely welcoming and certainly cooks with a whole lot of love. I was invited recently by the boys at Eat Aloud (who happen to be my juniors from school, such a small world!) for a tasting at Loaded. Easy to say it was irresistible, since all the desserts here are eggless (!).

On the menu we had:

The Zombie
Espresso Vanilla Italian Cream Soda – This concoction deserves a big thumbs up. Chilled, refreshing and an instant wake up call, I loved this. Except maybe the ice cream content could have been toned down.

Nutella Brownie Crunch Sandwich
Ohh helloooo heaven! Behold the Nutella Brownie Crunch Sandwich – Described as a crunchy, gooey indulgence with heaps of Nutella, brownie and butterscotch chips, a bite into this and you’re going to know what true love really is. The hidden element is salted caramel that gives you a fun tinge at the end of every bite otherwise there’s a chance this could’ve gotten a tad bit too sweet. Do NOT leave Loaded without having this one.

Red Velvet Crepe

Just when I thought Red Velvet was too passé, I was introduced to Red Velvet Crepes. The perfect amount of sweetness, go ahead, be cheesy and share this one with your Valentine 😉

Cheesy Nachos

The Nachos unfortunately were a bit of a disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, they were certainly a welcome change from all the sweetness, but I’m not so sure I’d spend money to eat a plate of Cornitos drizzled with mayo, cheese sauce and topped with mushrooms and olives. Delicious for sure, but not something I’d spend on when I can easily replicate them at home.

Strawberry Paradise – Double decker waffle sandwich
Ok is there a word like yummiest, because this SURE AS HELL WAS! I can’t remember the last time I had soft, melt in your mouth, kind of eggless waffles.. Thank you for this Loaded ! I know where to head to the next time I’ve got a craving. Stuffed with Nutella, whipped cream, fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings, this brought about a yummy in my tummy moment.

The Strawberry Banana Split
I can’t really comment on this one since it had pretty much melted by the time it got to me but the other bloggers definitely seemed to enjoy it.  – Ripe banana, strawberry compote, vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate ganache, brownie chunks, butter roasted cashews, with cherry on top. What’s not to love?

Overall, easy to say I’m happy to give this cute little Bistro 4 stars 🙂 Do let me know about your experience at the Loaded by writing to me at chaicakekitsch@gmail.com.

One Pot Pasta

Hello All!

I’m back with a recipe (my version) and I promise you that this is literally the easiest and quickest pasta I have EVER made, with no compromise in taste. Did I also mention that it’s healthy? It’s been quite a while since I took over the kitchen and a video that popped up on my Facebook newsfeed tempted me to get back, so here goes..

This page Tasty by the way, is life changing – https://www.facebook.com/buzzfeedtasty

Here’s my version of a one pot pasta:

Ingredients:
1 cup wholewheat pasta (penne, spaghetti, whatever you like)
1 small onion, finely chopped
6-8 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, diced (you want big chunks)
1 zucchini, diced
Handful of basil
Handful of spinach
Juice of half a lemon
1 tsp chilli flakes
Salt and pepper to taste

Recipe:
1. Add the onion, garlic, tomatoes, zucchini, basil and spinach to a pot. Add the pasta, sprinkle over salt, pepper and chilli flakes.
2. Drizzle 2 tbsp olive oil over this and 3 cups of water.
3. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously.
4. Continue adding water (sparingly as needed)
5. Your pasta will take about 25 mins to be cooked. Keep your eyes on the pot and stir intermittently after it begins to boil. Nothing kills your dish like overcooked pasta.
6. Once ready, squeeze in the lemon juice and mix well.
7. Add some basil leaves on top and serve fresh.

This pasta must be served fresh. Enjoy!

Get Your Green On

Happy New year everyone! Here’s my daily health juice recipe to start off the new year on a great, healthy note 🙂

Borosil India with the Food Bloggers’ Association of India, just sent over their newly launched juicer. Stylish, sleek and extremely easy to use, it has got me hooked!

image_20160503150723.jpg

My health juice (more red than green) is my absolute daily fix. Filled with ingredients that are great for your hair, skin and overall well being, my day is pretty much incomplete without the juice. I allow myself 3 portions of vegetables in a day, the juice being one of them. The benefits of green juice cannot be experienced overnight, so if you’re thinking you will wake up with glowing skin a week’s time, sorry to burst your bubble ! They have multiple benefits in the long run, especially protecting you against several diseases.

Tomatoes are rich sources of Vitamin C, B6, K, betacarotene, potassium and iron. Carrots as we know are rich in Vitamins A & C, potassium, iron and folate. Coriander has disinfectant, detoxifying, antiseptic, anti fungal and antioxidant properties. It also stimulates digestion. Garlic is also is filled with Vitamins A, C and B-complex.

Ingredients:

2 tomatoes
1 medium sized beetroot
1/2 red apple
1 small clove garlic
1 small green chilli
1 medium sized carrot
Coriander
Juice of 1 lemon
(I add half an apple purely for taste)

Recipe:

1. Dice all the tomatoes, the beetroot, the carrot and the apple and put them into the Borosil Juice mixer. Then blend the coriander, chilli and garlic.

2. Pour into a clean glass and squeeze the juice of half a lemon. Serve immediately.

Green juices can lose their nutrients very quickly if not consumed as soon as they have been prepared.

Tip: Do not dice / chop the vegetables and leave them overnight. Prep them exactly before making your juice.

You can also add mint and spinach leaves as they have great health benefits as well.
